Pastor Charles Tucker,
Interim Pastor
Charles hails from Shelbyville Tennessee and attended University of Tennessee Knoxville graduating in 1983. He next attended Columbia Theological Seminary earning his Master of Divinity in 1986 and later earned a teaching certificate from ODU in 2012.
He has been in the pulpit starting at Fayette Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville GA, then took a call to First Presbyterian Church in Milan TN as head of staff, then as head of staff to First Presbyterian Church in Gloucester VA. After that he was the stated supply pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth VA and at Faith Presbyterian Church in Newport News. He then took a detour to teach middle school at Mary Passage MS in Newport News for 7 years before becoming the Interim Pastor at Kirkwood Presbyterian in Yorktown VA. He most recently served as the Interim Pastor at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church in Newport News, VA.
Kate Wilson,
Director of Music
Kate joined the Calvin Presbyterian Church staff as Director of Music during the fall of 2008. A native of Arkansas, Kate completed her Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Mississippi in 1982. Upon marrying and moving to Lake Charles, LA with her husband, she became the music director for the preschool at University United Methodist Church. In 1984 Kate moved to Virginia Beach joined Community United Methodist Church and soon son Daniel was born. Her vocal back ground includes performances in numerous choirs, including the Louisiana Choral Foundation and the Virginia Symphony Chorus. Kate's major duties at the church include selecting service music and directing the adult choir at Calvin.
Lisa Carpenter,
Preschool Director
Lisa has been with Calvin Preschool for 20 years, and has served as the Preschool Director since June of 2011. Early childhood education has become her passion and she loves working hands on with the children every day. She lovingly works toward developing the school’s young students to have positive minds about life through teaching methods and to making Calvin Preschool a faith based outreach that benefits our community.
